At what age do kids realize that their mothers are always right and they need to listen? I want to make sure I’m on hand for this long-awaited moment.
My great aunt, doyenne of our family and my mother’s mentor, told my mother this: one day your children finally become people you want to spend time with, and the next day they go away to college. I think about that advice on hair-pulling days and try to remain calm. For myself, I wish I could tell my mother in person just how right she always was!
Once they are grown-ups: living completely independently. For me, that age was 22. With each passing year, and every new responsibility I took on, my mother only became wiser.
That day is expected?? If you reach it, let me know. 😉
