Thank God For Friday and Other Stuff

A distinguishing aspect of living in New York is that you become acutely aware of the plight of the nation’s homeless.  Walk a few blocks in midtown and you’ll stumble upon a body bundled up and trying to keep warm.  Ride the subway and you’re accosted by panhandlers.

By happenstance, I live in one of the most affluent areas of the city where winter ski vacations and Hamptons weekend homes are the norm.  As a single mom with limited financial means, it’s easy to forget that despite circumstances, I’m truly blessed.

Today, as a winter storm takes New York, I thank God I have warm bed and food in my fridge.
